Mesa County Animal Services transitions to a separate enforcement and services model
Mesa County is implementing significant changes to its animal services operations to improve animal welfare and enhance public safety. Starting Jan. 1, 2025, Animal Services will operate under a separate enforcement and services model, a shift in how animal-related responsibilities are managed within Mesa County.

Sheriff's Office Continues BATTLE Task Force Partnership
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office received a $165,000 funding award as a partner agency of the Beat Auto Theft Through Law Enforcement (BATTLE) Task Force on July 1, 2024. The Board of County Commissioners then approved a contract at their Aug. 13 public hearing to continue the partnership between Mesa County and Colorado State Patrol effective July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.

Commissioner Daniel tours Colorado Army National Guard facility
On the evening of Aug. 14, Commissioner Bobbie Daniel had the pleasure of participating in a tour of the Colorado Army National Guard Grand Junction office led by Adjutant General Laura Clellan. Daniel had the opportunity to tour the Grand Junction Readiness Center at 2810 Riverside Parkway and watch a great presentation from Colorado Army National Guard soldiers explaining their role in our community and the U.S. Military.

Feasibility Study for Sustainable Aviation Fuels Production on the Western Slope
Mesa County Commissioners are interested in learning more about the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) on the Western Slope. To that end, they approved a letter of support for a feasibility study to be submitted to the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA).
