Independent Living Apartments
Independent Living Apartments are a cost-controlled, affordable, safe, recovery compatible housing solution designed to help prepare a person who is progressing from residential community corrections back into independent living in the community. Independent Living Apartments offer a monitored environment to best ensure that alcohol and other drugs are not in use, or present at the home. Residents of the homes are continuing to engage in community corrections programs.
These apartments are visited by CJSD staff multiple times per day. Visitors must be approved and curfews are enforced. This program helps clients develop life skills to transition into their own homes and fully integrate into the community. While most clients living in the Independent Living Apartments locations are part of the community corrections program, some residents might be part of the Transitional Living Program and on another form of supervision such as Probation, Parole, or Division of Youth Services.
