These collateral duties help fill a need in the agency and gives deputies both on patrol and in detentions an opportunity to expand their skills and training.

Honor Guard
The Honor Guard is a joint effort between the Mesa County Sheriff's Office and the Grand Junction Police Department.
Shakedown Team
The Shakedown Team searches all areas of the Mesa County Detention Facility for any type of contraband.
Special Operations Response Team (SORT)
This specialized unit is specifically trained to respond to high risk situations in the detention facility.
Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT)
This specialized unit works to resolve high risk incidents in a safe manner.
Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Program
The Mesa County Sheriff's Office was one of the first law enforcement agencies to begin using unmanned aerial vehicles (aka drones).
