As the leaves change and the air gets crisp, it's the perfect time to declutter your home and prepare for the cozy season ahead. If you've been using your time to organize and clean, here's a friendly reminder. When you're ready to haul away your unwanted items and trash, make sure to "Tarp Your Load!"

Uncovered loads create litter along beautiful roads and pose significant safety risks. That's why, in accordance with the Colorado Traffic Code, it's prohibited to spill loads on highways. When heading to the Mesa County Landfill, securely cover your load.

Here are examples of "uncovered loads":

  • Loads with appliances that haven't been properly tied down and tarped
  • Loads containing loose waste, bags, boxes, or debris
  • Any load that isn't securely covered, including cement and rock
  • Loads with garbage cans that aren't secured and covered

Your cooperation keeps Mesa County roads cleaner and safer for everyone. Let's work together to maintain the beauty and safety of our community.
