The spring edition of Grand Valley Bike Month kicked off on May 2 with a special proclamation about Bike Month presented by the Fruita City Council. Cyclists across the valley got into the spirit with Bike to Work and School Day on Wednesday, May 3. Riders pedaled into Grand Junction City Hall and the Fruita Civic Center for a free breakfast. Fruita Middle School recruited several students to meet teachers at various locations and ride to the breakfast and then onto school.

Events for Grand Valley Bike Month included a variety of group rides, bike maintenance clinics, family activities at Mesa County Public Libraries, Yoga for Bikes, Bike to Bourbon, and the Bike Month Film Fest. By the time Grand Valley Bike Month wrapped up, a collective 9,450 miles during the month of May were pedaled. Love to Ride participants recorded 2,251 miles biking to work. Prizes were awarded to the top three participants for most miles in the two categories, along with most trips over one mile, congratulations to our Love to Ride Challenge winners!
