Mesa County Public Health (MCPH) has been made aware of a recall involving 167,171 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken breast nuggets and tenders. The products were distributed nationwide and may have been sold in Mesa County. The food is being recalled from Perdue Foods LLC after the company received complaints of consumers finding metal wire embedded in the product. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to people consuming these products.

 

Description of recalled products

  • 22-oz. packages containing “PERDUE Simply Smart ORGANICS Breaded CHICKEN BREAST NUGGETS” with Best If Used By date of 3/23/25.
  • 29-oz. packages containing “PERDUE CHICKEN BREAST TENDERS” with Best If Used By date of 3/23/25. 
  • 22-oz. packages containing “BUTCHERBOX Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets” with Best If Used By date of 3/23/25.

 

                

What should consumers do

  • Consumers should check their freezers for any of the recalled items.
  • Throw the products out or return the products to the store where they were purchased for a refund.
  • Anyone concerned about an injury or illness in connection to this product should contact their doctor.
  • Visit the FDA website for more information about the recalled items.
