Renaming C Road to Unaweep Avenue in Grand Junction

The City of Grand Junction and Mesa County are renaming C Road to Unaweep Avenue from Highway 50 east to 29 Road to improve clarity and consistency. This change aims to eliminate confusion caused by the dual naming system and streamline navigation for residents, businesses, and emergency responders.

The renaming of Unaweep Avenue creates a consistent road name, replacing the confusing mix of a named street. 

• West of Linden Avenue: The City’s addressing grid will apply.
• East of Linden Avenue: Mesa County’s addressing grid will be used.
• This alignment reflects the natural division between the existing grid systems and maintains consistency.

Transition Period

• Residents will have up to a year to update their addresses, giving them ample time to adjust.

Public engagement has been a key part of this process. Public meetings allowed residents to share their opinions, and the response was overwhelmingly supportive. All affected property owners and residents were notified via letters and public meetings.

Utility companies, postal services, and emergency responders are being informed of the change to ensure their records are updated.
