Have you seen these tiny grubs hanging out on your lawn and noticed damaged areas in your grass?

You may have Japanese Beetle larvae in your turfgrass, feeding on the roots and waiting for summertime to hatch and wreak havoc on the rest of our community’s plants and fruit crops.

What should you do if you spot a possible Japanese Beetle grub on your property?

  1. Give the CSU Extension a call at 970-244-1834 to help you identify the grub
  2. Treat your lawn with grub control granules such as GrubEx

The Japanese Beetle is an invasive insect with the capability to bring great damage to our community’s agriculture and agritourism industries due to its enormous appetite for over 300 species of desirable plants, including grapes, peaches, roses, apples, sweet corn, trees, and turf grass.

Your reporting of Japanese Beetle grub sightings and treating your lawn will greatly impact our community’s efforts to eradicate this harmful beetle and protect your neighbors and local farmers from its threat.

You can access all information about Mesa County’s efforts to eradicate the Japanese Beetle here.
