New GVT Fleet Maintenance Facility nearing groundbreaking
At the May 21 administrative public hearing, the County Commissioners approved a $7.43 million contract amendment between Mesa County and Buildings By Design for the construction of the GVT Fleet Maintenance Facility at 2553 Riverside Parkway. Following the contract amendment approval, a long-term lease between Mesa County and the City of Grand Junction for the GVT Fleet Maintenance Facility was also approved.
A total of $7.5 million is secured for the construction of the 19,400-square-foot metal building, including $4.8 million in grants and $2.7 million in local funds. Mesa County will financially cover the disposition of the old GVT Fleet Maintenance Facility, totaling approximately $1.99 million.
Mesa County will own the new GVT Fleet Maintenance Facility, which will live on the City of Grand Junction’s property through the long-term lease agreement.
This new facility, which will break ground in June 2024, aims to accommodate the demands of transit operations and fleet maintenance.
