At the Nov. 12 public hearing, the Mesa County Commissioners approved a $341,547 design agreement to replace the MM-39.45-H.75 Rapid Creek Culvert on Rapid Creek Road. This critical project will move forward to ensure water flows safely and our infrastructure remains reliable.

The 10-foot culvert, installed in 1987, shows signs of wear, making it essential to replace it before further corrosion causes negative impacts on infrastructure. This culvert is the only primary access to the Ute Water plant, which provides critical water services to much of the Grand Valley urban area. Maintaining and updating this infrastructure is vital for water access and residents who depend on safe roads in all weather conditions.

This design phase will allow our engineering team to assess and determine the best replacement approach to keep Rapid Creek Road and our community safe and connected.
