Mesa Creek/Coon Creek Estates Fuel Treatment Project grant approved
November 1, 2024
During the Oct. 29 public hearing, the Mesa County Commissioners approved a $241,314 grant between Mesa County and Colorado State Forest Service for the Mesa Creek/Coon Creek Estates Fuel Treatment Project. This is a pass-through grant with Mesa County acting as the fiscal agent.
This vital project aims to enhance fire safety and ecological health and creates a fuel break across 170 acres of private land adjacent to the United States Forest Service (USFS) boundary.
When participating in this initiative, private landowners can receive reimbursement for treatment costs, reinforcing our collective commitment to safeguard Mesa County.
