County Administrator Presents 2024 Proposed Budget
On Oct. 10, Mesa County Administrator Pete Baier and former Budget Manager Spencer Rockwell presented the 2024 proposed budget during the Board of County Commissioners' administrative public hearing (video timestamp 04:08).
State statute requires County staff to present a proposed budget to the Board of County Commissioners no later than Oct. 15 of each year. The proposed budget will be posted on the County's website. The Mesa County Administrator will present the final budget to the Board of Commissioners for adoption during the administrative public hearing on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
"The 2024 Proposed Budget reaffirms the county's commitment to investing in key initiatives in the strategic plan to strengthen Mesa County's fiscal health amidst economic uncertainties," said Peter Baier, Mesa County Administrator. "This year, our focus remains clear: the 2024 budget is dedicated to delivering exceptional core services to our community and acknowledges Team Mesa for their excellence in making that possible."
The total County budget is $245.7 million. This represents a slight increase of 1.3% over the 2023 adopted budget. The net County budget, which deducts interfund transfers and internal services, totals $219.2 million.
The proposed General Fund budget includes $89.4 million in estimated revenue and $90.1 million in proposed appropriations.

The proposed budget is one of many steps in the annual budget process, culminating with the final budget scheduled to be reviewed and adopted by Dec. 12.
