During the July 2 administrative public hearing, Mesa County Commissioners unanimously approved a contract for $82,238 for the 2024 Clifton Clean-up, slated to happen mid-September. The project area is 32 Road to 33 Road and D Road to I-70. Eligible residents will be notified directly with specific dates and instructions.

Residents play a crucial role in the upcoming clean-up and will be required to place their trash on the street at most three days before the beginning of the clean-up.

Materials acceptable for pick-up include:

  • Furniture
  • Garden/yard debris
  • General household trash
  • Lumber/construction materials
  • Mattresses and box springs

To date, Mesa County's cleanup initiative has successfully removed over 1,062 tons (2,341,309 pounds) of trash since its start in 2019. As the program continues, we encourage residents to play their part by placing trash on the curb only when they receive a mail notification confirming the cleanup dates for their area. This ensures the efficient coordination and effectiveness of the cleanup efforts.

The cleanups are more than just improving the area's appearance — they help reduce crime and have a positive ripple effect throughout Mesa County by increasing pride in the neighborhood.

Mesa County remains committed to extending these cleanup services to more unincorporated areas as funding allows.
