New avenues to access the Riverfront Trail are on the horizon since the county commissioners approved a $102,029 agreement with an engineering firm to complete the Riverfront Trail Connection Alternatives Analysis during the Dec. 12 administrative public hearing.

The selected firm is set to complete the analysis to evaluate route alternatives to connect the Riverfront Trail from its existing endpoint at 33 ½ Road and D ½ Road to the Town of Palisade.

The consideration of a shared path connection to Mount Garfield Middle School is included in the analysis as well.

A Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) grant will fully fund this project.
