On Nov. 7, the Board of Mesa County Commissioners came together to pay tribute to the life and contributions of Bruce Edward Lohmiller, who was born on Feb. 8, 1954, and sadly passed away on Oct. 9, 2023.

Mr. Lohmiller's journey included his service in the United States Army from 1973 to 1976, his active participation in Mesa County public hearings and meetings, and his persistent run as a write-in candidate for various political offices, including Mesa County Sheriff, U.S. House District 3, and even the President of the United States of America.

Beyond politics, Bruce Lohmiller's dedication to the arts and veterans left an indelible mark on the community. He provided authentic and compassionate leadership at the Veteran's Art Center.

Mesa County fondly remembers Bruce Lohmiller for his cheerful spirit, and he will be missed.

In recognition of his contributions and celebration of his life, the Mesa County Commissioners have officially proclaimed Feb. 8, 2024, as "Bruce Lohmiller Day" in Mesa County. It is a day to reflect on his legacy.
