What to do if you find a Japanese Beetle

Do you think you found a Japanese Beetle on your lawn?

Japanese Beetles are invasive insects that feed on over 300 plants, including turfgrass, causing damage to plant life. Mesa County quickly declared the Japanese Beetle a public nuisance and began an eradication plan after discovering the pest breeding in the Appleton area. 

If you suspect you have a Japanese Beetle, please bring a sample to the CSU Extension office located within the Mesa County Fairgrounds, 2775 U.S. 50; 970-244-1834. Place insects in a hard-sided container. CSU Extension staff will identify the sample for you.
