Mesa County Commissioners sent a letter to the U.S. House Appropriations Committee to support the request for total funding of Title I (Adult, Dislocated Worker, and Youth) and III (Employment Services) programs under the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA); during the Aug. 8 administrative public hearing.

Our community has witnessed the positive impact of WIOA Title I programs, which have aided local employers and job seekers through on-the-job training, internships, and work experiences.

The significance of Title III in Mesa County cannot be understated, as it plays a critical role in connecting qualified job seekers with local employers, thereby contributing to the supply of skilled labor and fostering overall workforce development. These invaluable programs have been especially vital in aiding our economic recovery from the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
