Landfill’s minimum disposal fee decreases to $10

Next time you visit the Mesa County Landfill, you will pay a lower minimum disposal fee, as the Board of Mesa County Commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution today at their May 7 public hearing to reduce the fee for up to 380 pounds of waste disposal to $10.

The minimum disposal fee decrease comes after feedback from residents concerned about the fee increase made last year. Mesa County values our residents' input and continues its commitment to providing affordable waste disposal in our community, with a careful balance to bring in enough revenue to continue operating Solid Waste Management’s services. 

Solid Waste Management operates as an enterprise and primarily relies on revenue from the Mesa County Landfill, Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, and Composting Facility to continue providing services to residents — essential in allowing for a clean and healthy living environment for the residents of Mesa County.
